Independent Power Producers Association of BC 2009 - Vancouver BC
Hydropower development in a Dynamic Watershed during a period of Climate Change
Syntaris Power Corporation is in the final planning stages in developing a 15MW waterpower project on Culliton Creek, approximately 20 km north of Squamish. Relying on environmental studies conducted since 1996 has enabled the Syntaris team to avoid significant environmental impacts by taking advantage of the natural and anthropogenic features of the Culliton Creek Valley.

ESRI User Conference 2009 - San Diego
Cheakamus Community Forest
CERG participated in the 2009 ESRI User Conference by combining effortss with DRS (Don Reimer Systems) to create a display panel that illustrates the multi-level top down design and implementation of the Cheakamus Community Forest project. Achieving Sustainability in Tourism & Resort Communities

CERG is proud to have delivered the Harmony Presentation as part of the Sea-to-Sky mission to the BC-Canada Pavilion in Beijing, September 2008. Focusing on achieving sustainability in tourism and resort communities, the presentation discusses ecosystem based resort management planning and sustainable natural resource and recreation management in Whistler.

International Association for Impact Assessment, Perth 2008
A Case Study of the Whistler Creekside EA Process

CERG was retained by the Vancouver Organising Committee to conduct an Environmental Assessment of the Whistler Creekside location for the 2010 Olympic Games. This presentation outlines how we were able to successfully avoid environmental impacts from the construction of this venue by working closely with representatives from the Federation Internationale de Ski (FIS) on design changes.

ESRI User Conference 2008 - San Diego
A New Model for Federation Internationale de Ski (FIS) Race Course Homologation
CERG’s presentation to the 2008 ESRI user conference discusses our participation in a race course homologation for the Federation International de Ski (FIS). Using cutting edge GIS technology, air photos and field GPS surveys, CERG produced a 3-D model of the race course.

ESRI Regional User Conference 2008 - Kamloops
Using GIS in the Design, Establishment, & Management of Recreational Trails
CERG uses GIS at every step in our mountain biking trail work. This presentation outlines the importance of GIS in the design, establishment and management of mountain bike trails, with reference to CERG projects.

GOABC Workshop - Prince George, BC, December 2007
Mountain Caribou Recovery Planning & HeliCat Canada Ski Operations
Delivered during the Guide Outfitters Association of BC workshop, this presentation discusses Wildlife Operating Procedures for Helicopter and Snowcat skiing in mountain caribou habitat. Helicat management plans ensure avoidance of mountain caribou displacement and play an important part in understanding the distribution and sub-population sizes of mountain caribou.

Kelowna Mountain Bike Strategy Open House, 2008 CERG’s Kelowna presentation reviews the myriad of social and economic benefits of mountain biking, and highlights the essential elements to consider in order to minimise the environmental disturbance potentially caused by the sport. Safety considerations and the features necessary to implement a comprehensive system of trails, skills centres and facilities are also discussed.
 

City of Coquitlam Off-road Cycling Strategy Open House, June 20th 2006 The City of Coquitlam approached CERG to aid in the development of an Off-road Cycling Strategy that would provide a unique community amenity. This presentation outlines the positive social, recreational and cultural benefits of such an amenity, as well as describing the considerations taken into account whilst designing and establishing the trails.
